Ultracet Prescription
Ultracet is a combination of opioid analgesic tramadol (37.5 mg) and non-opioid, non-salicylate analgesic acetaminophen (325 mg). It is approved for short term management of acute pain. Ultracet provides rapid onset combined with prolonged analgesia. Benefits: Ultracet begins working faster than tramadol alone, and provides long-lasting pain relief. It is not an NSAID and may be a good choice for people with risk of stomach ulcers, kidney problems, or who are taking antihypertensive drugs. Risks: The most common side effects are constipation, sleepiness, and increased sweating. Although Ultracet is very effective and relatively safe, some people should not take it, particularly without a prescription and doctor's approval:

Ultracet Comparison Ultracet offers a worthy alternative to other acetaminophen plus a weak opioid combinations and NSAIDs. The following information would be helpful for our visitors in choosing the right medication. Ultracet versus Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen According to the clinical study, Ultracet provides effective rapid analgesia comparable to that of Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen with lower rate of side effects1. In the study the onset of pain relief was about 34 minutes with Ultracet and 25.4 minutes with Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen. The incidence of nausea and vomiting was about 50% lower with Tramadol/Acetaminophen combination. Results of the ankle sprain study showed that Ultracet and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen had comparable utility in relieving pain caused by ankle sprain4. Ultracet versus Codeine/APAP The results of another study suggest that Ultracet (37.5 mg/325 mg) is as effective as Codeine/APAP (30 mg/300 mg) in the treatment of chronic low back pain and osteoarthritis pain. Codeine/APAP causes higher rate of sleepiness and constipation whereas Ultracet causes more headache2. Ultracet versus Gabapentin Ultracet is as effective in relieving painful diabetic neuropathy as gabapentin, according to the Korean study. The overall improvements in pain intensity were –3.11 and –2.70 for the tramadol/acetaminophen and gabapentin groups respectively5. Ultracet in migraine Ultracet may be a suitable option for the management of moderate-to-severe migraine headache3. It reduces the severity of pain, photophobia, and phonophobia associated with migraine headache, but does not reduce migraine-associated nausea. References
