Propecia Medical Uses:
Propecia is an androgen hormone inhibitor most commonly used to treat
male pattern hair loss IN MEN ONLY.
How to Take Propecia:
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor.
This medicine may be taken with a full glass of water once daily on an
empty stomach. Take one tablet daily or as directed by your doctor. This
medication usually must be taken regularly for 3 months for the benefits
to be noticeable. Once treatment is stopped, any gain in hair quantity
will be lost.
Propecia Possible Side Effects:
Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects.
Possible side effects that may occur while taking Propecia are decreased
libido, impotence, breast tenderness or enlargement. If you experience
any of these, notify your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you
experience the following side effects or symptoms of toxicity: difficulty
breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face;
or hives. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor,
nurse, or pharmacist.
Propecia Precautions:
Before using Propecia, tell your doctor your medical history especially
of liver disease, prostate cancer, urinary tract disease and of any drug
allergies. Propecia should not be used in women or children. The drug
can be absorbed through the skin. If the film coating of the tablet has
been broken or the tablet crushed, it should not be handled by a woman
who is pregnant or plans to become pregnant. Any contact with Propecia
by a developing male fetus could result in abnormalities of the external
genitalia. Propecia must not be used during pregnancy. If you become pregnant
or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. PROPECIA
is for use by MEN ONLY and should NOT be used by women or children.
Drug Interactions:
There are no known interactions between Propecia and other medications.
Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter
medicines, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal products.
Missed Dose:
If you miss a dose of this medicine and you remember the same day, take
it as soon as possible. If you do not remember until the next day, skip
the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take
2 doses at once.
Storage:
Store this medicine at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15
and 30 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from moisture. Keep
this and all medications out of the reach of children.
