Drug Information
Butalbital APAP Caffeine is a strong, non-narcotic pain reliever and relaxant. It is prescribed for the relief of tension
headaches caused by muscle contractions in the head, neck, and shoulder
area.
How to take:
- Do not take Butalbital without your doctor's advice if you are taking MAO inhibitors, antidepressants, pain meds, sleep medications, or acetaminophen containing products.
- This drug may cause you to become drowsy or less alert. Driving
or participating in any hazardous activity that requires full
mental alertness is not recommended until you know your response
to the drug.
- Butalbital slows the central nervous system (CNS) and intensifies
the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants. Use of alcohol
with the medication may also cause overdose symptoms.
- If you have been taking Butalbital compound for a long period (more than several weeks), do not stop using it abruptly without consultation with your doctor.
Butalbital APAP Caffeine dosage:
ADULTS
The usual dose is 1 or 2 tablets taken every 4 hours as needed.
Do not exceed a total dose of 6 tablets per day.
OLDER ADULTS
Barbiturates may cause excitement, depression, and confusion in older
people. Therefore, your doctor will prescribe a dose individualized
to suit your needs.
CHILDREN
The safety and effectiveness have not been established
in children under 12 years of age.
Taking Butalbital improperly or without a prescription is not safe. Mental and physical dependence can occur with the use of barbiturates
such as butalbital when these drugs are taken in higher than recommended
doses over long periods of time. Many doctors limit the use of prescription to two days a week.
Before you buy Butalbital APAP, compare prices of US based and foreign services. Generic versions of this medication are produced by many pharmaceutical companies so it is not that expensive and there is no point to order Butalbital from foreign pharmacy.
